Eidolic Lotus exists to help you navigate through the complex digital landscapes that get in the way of you running your business
I’ve spent over 25 years immersed in technology whilst working in small start-ups to large corporations and the challenges have always largely remained the same, making technology accessible and helpful to people.
Over the course of the years I’ve been involved in almost every level of the technology stack from the parts which actually make things happen, through to the parts that the user experiences on a day to day. Despite the promises of the CEOS and CTOs of the corporations, technology has become harder to navigate and much more complicated requiring more knowledge than ever before. The technology evolves on almost a weekly basis and it’s next to impossible to keep up with the changing environment for somebody involved with the industry let alone somebody who is trying to deal with the day to day of their business.
Due to my career, one of the common questions I’ve been asked in my day-to-day conversations with folk has been “oh, you work in IT, can you help me with something”. Invariably, the answer is always “yes, of course”. I have that type of brain and depth of experience where I can help make stuff work for you. Recently I’ve been involved with several small businesses and the conversation always comes around to the same point and it’s led me to realise that people still really struggle with this stuff, even now, 25 years on, despite all of the advances in trying to make technology user friendly.
Let’s be honest about this all, the technology landscape is intractable for most people who aren’t involved in it, despite the recent advances in AI, there’s just SO MUCH to understand and if you’ve not grown up with it then it’s even harder. Zooming out a little, humans do not typically have the kind of brains where we can understand everything and cope with every single aspect of a business, we have brains that evolved to forage for berries and live in caves, dealing with everything from websites to social media to exercise routines, for example, leads to overload and burnout and that is not good for you or your clients.
One person businesses DO NOT have the bandwidth to deal with everything, you need to spend your time on the minutia of your days, spending your time on the things which are the core of your business and supporting your clients (and sometimes having some time off to reset and recuperate). Nobody ever created a business with the expectation that you need to understand which website hosting package is best for you or wanting to understand what SEO is. Do you really want to spend time trying to understand what you can do with Bookwhen?
One analogy often comes up in my mind when I’m working with technology is this: Technology is complicated and I (and everybody else in my field) personally spend so much time trying to make the tools work in order to get to the actual place of creating what we need to create. Now apply that to the physical world. imagine a builder who was tasked with building a house spending an inordinate amount of time trying to make her hammer work before she even got to the point of using that hammer to build the house. This is how technology is, the point is not the technology but what we can do with it and there are always things stopping us from creating due to the inherent complexity.
I can help guide you with this, I have the type of brain which can help to tame the technology you’re forced to deal with to live in this heavily technology based patriarchal capitalistic world. I have been involved with several small businesses from holistic fitness and wellness companies through to therapists and mental health charities.
My focus is on female owned and queer owned businesses (and any intersectionality between them) as I think that we should have more influence in this world, to try to soften the influence of the largely white straight male owned businesses prevalent in our society.
Having the time to create the kind of businesses that we need in this world is a huge challenge and I really want to help you with this. I try to approach my clients with empathy, love and support and bring zero judgement. We are all trying to do the best we can and I have the capacity and understanding to help you with this.
I’ve got strong links in the fitness and wellness community and I am training to become a yoga teacher and a reiki practitioner. I understand the difficulties of modern life; I’m the single mum of an 18 year old have learnt how to spin the plates enough in order to forge a career in a strongly male driven environment, find time for yoga and support businesses with their needs.
